Source: Hyundai

Remarks:

1- Engine power figures which were overstated in US and Canada by up to 36% before Hyundai's confession are still highly overstated. Examples:

Sonata 2.5 liter engine power is overstated in US and
Canada by 36%:
Actual: 130hp; inflated: 170hp ; Hyundai's correction: 163hp.

Sonata and Tiborun 2.0 liter engine power is overstated in US and
Canada by 17%:
Actual: 120hp; inflated: 140hp; Hyundai's correction: 125hp and 134hp respectively.

Santa Fe, Sonata, Tiborun 2.7 liter engine power is overstated in US and Canada by 27.5%:
Actual: 142hp; inflated:181hp; Hyundai's correction: 170hp

2- Most other controversial models are withheld.
3- Inflation rates in EU, CIS,
East Europe, Asia, Mid-East and africa are much higher than those in US and Canada.
4- Other Korean automakers' inflation rates are higher than those of Hyundai by at least 10%.
5- Korean automakers have been frantically reducing engine horse power figures and other specifications everywhere after the confession made by Hyundai-Kia.

6-Hyundai America CEO's confession to falsely inflating engine power figures of Hyundai cars "since the beginning of time" was made to abort and prevent investigative authorities in US and Canada from conducting an all-out probe into all Hyundai-kia models and discover that their engine power figures are overstated by up to 36%.

7. He lied about engine power inflation rates which he claimed did not exceed 10% so as to keep due compensations to the minimum and to abort an all out investigation by authorities in US and Canada which would discover that inflation rate of Hyundai-Kia 2.7 and 2.5 liter engines, for example, exceeded 32% and 36% respectively.

8. He promised extended warranty periods to 400,000 Hyundai owners in the US. This promise is all but vague and inadequate because Hyundai warranties in America are already very extended and have never been fully honored anyway. So this compensation offer is all but deceptive and meaningless. Besides, it excludes 900,000 other Hyundai owners in the US.

9. In trying to avoid having to buyback Hyundai cars and to pay damages to Hyundai owners in accordance with lemon law, Hyundai
America CEO claims that engine power is not a decisive factor for buying a car. The truth is, the most decisive factor for buying a new car by an average would-be buyer is the engine power- price relation factor. This factor makes Korean cars stand out in almost all car categories/classes. Korean car prices are 15%-20% lower than most of those of the higher end cars in any class/category while corresponding engine powers, though falsified, are among the highest. Had it not been for that favorable, but cheated, factor, 80%-85% of the buyers of Korean-made cars would have bought other makes. This constitutes a serious tort that warrants not only true compensations for the car owners which should include full refund, damages and punitive damages. Competing automakers who lost their market shares as a result are entitled to compensation.

10. In addition to falsifying engine power, the table which Hyundai CEO presented to the press on September 9 excludes models older than 97-96.

11. Hyundai, Kia and the rest of Korean automakers have made no mention of engine power inflation in the rest of the world where Korean car owners also deserve compensation. Over 8,000,000 Korean-made car owners around the world are entitled to compensation.
